Opus Energy is keen to offer employees
the opportunity to achieve personal challenges. Whilst raising money for charity
there are many opportunities for Opus
Energy’s employees to achieve a personal goal, push themselves to
the limits or just wear a silly outfit and have fun.
Opus Energy is proud to announce our chosen charity of the year 2009/10 is:
Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides a specialist health service for people whose
illness is no longer curable.
The Northampton hospice in-patient unit admits approximately 400 patients
every year and is a purpose-built 20-bedded unit, designed to the highest
standards for patient care. The Hospice does not offer "long stay"
admissions - patients stay as long as they need specialist care; as a guide
the average length of stay is 11 days.
The Cynthia Spencer Hospice focuses on a team approach. Whilst the emphasis is on dealing with the physical problems of the patients to ensure their comfort, they also endeavour to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of the patients and their loved ones, providing support and friendship throughout their illness and during the time of bereavement.
It also offers a day hospice which provides a much-needed rest for carers and also provides patients with the opportunity to mix with other people and come into a different and stimulating environment.
The hospice has a range of staff working both in the hospice and using the hospice as a base – these include Lymphoedema, Welfare Rights, Hospice at Home, Therapy and Family Work Teams.
