Through our low-cost energy pricing and commitment to delivering excellent customer care, we've seen rapid growth since our establishment in 2002. A recent highlight of this came at the end of last year when, after seeing a tremendous 31% growth in sales figures over the previous year, we were featured in the prestigious Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250. But at Opus we're driven by more than a profit-making desire - this website reflects our commitment to our employees and charities.
We are keen to offer our staff the opportunity to achieve their own individual goals. Through raising money for charity our employees can push themselves to the limits, achieve their own personal targets, or simply have fun and wear some silly outfits. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas and happily consider any realistic suggestions from our team.
We're driven by more than just profits and want to make a positive difference in the community. For 2011/12 the charity Opus Energy has chosen to support is The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The organisation has been in operation since 1964 and is the UK's only national charity dealing with all aspects of cystic fibrosis. During 2010/11 we were delighted to raise £20,034 for the Trust, and look forward to continuing to support them in 2012. The money raised will enable cystic fibrosis sufferers to receive treatment and also help to continue the research into this life-threatening, inherited disease, which affects the lungs, liver, pancreas and intestine. In previous years we have supported the Cynthia Spencer Hospice, National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and Care International.
We're proud to sponsor Daniel Keatings, one of Britain's most promising young hopes for London 2012. The Northamptonshire-based gymnast won Britain's first ever gold medal at a major championship in 2010, where he won the European Championship gold medal for the pommel horse. Previously Daniel was also the first British athlete to win a bronze and a silver World all-around medal for gymnastics. Visit the sponsorship pages to follow Daniel's progress and read his Olympic training blog, as he prepares for what will be the pinnacle of his career.
In his latest Opus Energy Challenge blog, readers get a look at some new photos from Daniel, as well as a video of him in training. We also find out how he's coping with the build-up to the Olympics!
