In
comparison to the 3 or 24 Peaks Challenges the Waendel Walk offers Opus
Energy’s employees and family members a more leisurely way to raise
money for the NSPCC.
The Waendel Walk is an annual event in Wellingborough that attracts walkers and cyclists of all ages and from all over the world to use a combination of field, footpaths and roads through picturesque villages.
It is a weekend long event which includes a choice of 5, 10, 15, 25 and 42 kilometre routes for walkers and 25 and 42 kilometre routes for cyclists, giving everyone an opportunity to sample different parts of the local countryside throughout Saturday and Sunday.
15 Opus Energy employees from both the Oxford and Northampton offices, who were joined by their friends and family members walked various distances all raising money for the NSPCC.
The day was beautiful and bright, the ideal day for walking through the Wellingborough countryside. After a leisurely start, groups started forming, those that were keen to take a meandering more leisurely route and those that were keen to finish the route at pace.
The event brought together employees from all parts of the business, new friendships were forged and a lot of laughter and fun was had on the route, but most importantly Opus achieved all of this by raising over £1,100 for the NSPCC.
